Kanye's Style Remix
The singer/rapper/producer channels
|
|

We love a man in a suit. A well-tailored suit. And now Kanye and his entourage will wear just that, according to WWD.com. The singer and his team are now said to step out only in sharply tailored suits by Dio Homme. Think Men in Black, literally: skinny black pants and ties with white shirts. Fans will see his new style (perhaps inspired by Janelle Monae?) on his upcoming tour.

Halle On Vogue
The September Issue
|
|

We love to see strategy at work. For nearly two years we haven't heard much from Halle Berry. With the announcement that she and model, Gabriel Aubry the father of their gorgeous baby girl, Nahla, she was nearly silent, saving for a discussion with People magazine (that seemed uncharacteristic of Berry slinging mud), stating Aubry wasn't pulling his weight.
So however the deal went down for Berry to appear on the cover of Vogue, with no project out to promote, we s say well played, Berry. And Vogue. It's certainly one of the most gorgeous spreads we've seen the Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry appear in. In the September issue of Vogue she opens up to writer Jonathan van Meter about the breakup with her longtime beau. It's a first of many: the first time she's spoken about the breakup with Aubry; and she's the first African-American celebrity—and African-American woman—to grace the cover of the fashion title. Naomi Campbell, a Jamaican-Brit, graced the last cover in 1989. The reason Berry decided to break her silence is submitting now, she says, is that Vogue made her
an offer she couldn't refuse: the September cover. "What that means for a
woman of color and what that means in the fashion world, what that
means to pop culture, there was no way I could say, 'No, I'm not going
to be on the biggest issue of the year.'" Our opinion?
We heart it!

H&M's Harlem Remix
Store Reopens with Private Party Hosted by Uptown Magazine
|
|

After five months of renovations, H&M reopened their Harlem store on 125th street (125 West 125th Street) with a party filled with fly people reigning from New York’s five boroughs. Hosted by our publishing partner, Uptown magazine, guests sipped on cocktails and munched on Mac and cheese poppers, mini catfish, eggrolls and red velvet cupcakes as the DJ played the best old school hip-hop and R&B—and received 25% off shopping!
The remodeled tri-level store, which morphed from a bright stalk white décor from top to bottom to walls painted in a sophisticated and modern charcoal hue, offers women’s clothing on the first level, mens on the second and kids on third. What brought about this change? "After about 5 or 7 years we give our stores a makeover," shared Tony Everett, public relations coordinator for H&M. "It’s exciting and we love the Harlem community ,so it’s always great to do an event like this. We understand why people love fashion at all price points so we want people with fashion sense and style to want to wear an H&M design."
H&M Harlem opens to the public today, Friday, July 30 at 10am, and is marking the grand reopening on 125th street by partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of Harlem. They will donate gift cards to members of the Boys & Girls Club of Harlem to help them purchase new H&M garments on opening day. In addition, H&M will also provide the local Boys and Girls Club with a financial grant to support their programs.
Store hours are Monday thru Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. See more images from last night's opening.

Zoe wears Givenchy Couture at 2010 Oscars
According to WWD, Riccardo Tisci, Givenchy’s couturier since 2005, plans to bring back the exclusivity to his Paris collection showing. "I want to make
couture even more special than it is, and not just another catwalk
show,” Tisci told WWD in an exclusive interview alongside Pierre-Yves
Roussel, chief executive officer of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton’s
fashion division, which also spans fashion houses such as Celine, Loewe
and "People can really experience the couture moment: See it,
touch it.” The only people to view his newly edited collection (only 10 looks), which will be installed in an opulent
18th-century town house on the Place Vendôme are editors and Givenchy's most devoted couture clients, including assorted royals. Couture
represents a "special, high-level service," which the new format
reflects, he said. What can we expect to see for 2011? Languid and sensual evening wear boasting embroideries and no black. Why the regrouping? "After a
crisis, a new era always starts,” the designer added, referring to the economic downturn of 2009 and the recession of 2010. "It’s going to be a
very good moment for creativity. For couture, it’s going to go back to
being very exclusive."
