 LeToya on the Red Carpet
LeToya Luckett, R&B songstress, songwriter and actress, graced the red carpet Wednesday night at the Helen Mills Theater in Manhattan for her official launch party as the new face for Luster’s Pink Brand Smooth Touch. Luckett, sporting Rita Hayworth-inspired hair and matte red lips, arrived in style wearing a cerulean blue cocktail dress by Nicole Miller, an oversized silver pearl bauble necklace, and Christian Dior gold strappy stilettos. Friends of LeToya also arrived at the party, co-hosted by Vibe Vixen, including Malik Kitchen from MTV’s Taking The Stage, Season 1, and Luckett's BFF, Keisha Knight Pulliam.
Luster's Pink Brand Smooth Touch, owned by the 50-year old Black-owned haircare company with ten different product lines, is designed for style-conscious women with an urban, hip-hop flair. And it certainly found an 'it girl' in Luckett as the new celebrity endorser, replacing former spokeswoman, R&B singer Keyshia Cole. "LeToya Luckett is beautiful, successful and multitalented," said Jory Luster, president of Luster's Products, while explaining why they selected Luckett as its newest brand ambassador. "What sold me was her heart: she talks about reaching out to young ladies, and you want that person who represents our brand to be a role model."
This past June fans of both Luckett and Luster got a glimpse of the singer in the debut of Smooth Touch's "Star Studded" commercial—a first for the brand, that debuted during the BET Awards. The commercial featured the image and autograph of Luckett on a box of the new Smooth Touch Limited Edition relaxer kit in regular and super strength.
During a small speech in front of about 200 guests, the Grammy Award-winning singer expressed how delighted and proud she was about the opportunity, stating that the company and its officers have become like family to her. "I love them so much," said Luckett. "I never would have imagined being a part of something like this! This was second nature to me." In a one-on-one interview, Luckett, who is working on her third album, shared a message for young women who are interested or plan to take on multiple ventures. She simply says, "It's a lot of work. Humble yourself, realize what you’re taking on, and if God puts it in your heart, He will see you through it." Click to see more images from the event.
