 The Lounge area
carol's Nail Care
This summer, the West Harlem flagship store of Carol's Daughter introduced "The Back Room," the latest offering to lovers of its brand. The Back Room is a nail spa where one can retreat from the streets to a stylized Moroccan-like lounge for multi-sensory hand and foot treatments. "The Back Room Hand & Foot Spa," explained founder and owner, Lisa Price, "was born out of the general idea of pampering mind, body and spirit."
Soothing aromas of lavender, tea, and baked goods waft in the air and caress you at the door. A friendly staff offers a choice of tea or champagne, and rows of high-end lacquers (think Chanel, O.P.I and the new M2M) are a part of the high-end polish selection. Clearly, this is no ordinary nail spa in Harlem. Manicures and pedicures with stylish names, ranging from $18 to $36, are created from a combination of ingredients normally found in Carol's Daughter's products: coconut, tapioca, ginger, lavender, sea salt and even gummy bears, for example, are found in the Princess In Me Manicure, designed for girls under the age of 12.
