A: In my book IMAN: The Beauty of Color, I talk a lot about the importance of skincare. It is so important for women of all ages to know that the best defense is a good offense. You can avoid getting breakouts in the first place by taking care of your skin. Don’t clog your pores by using heavy, oily products on your face. Make sure that you cleanse, tone and moisturize daily and don’t forget to take your makeup off at night. It’s also important to have a balanced diet, and drink lots of water. Remember, what you put in, is what you’ll get out! Then if you do have an occasional pimple or breakout, my best advice is NOT to irritate it further by picking at it or using harsh stripping products with a lot of alcohol. You don’t want irritate and dehydrate your skin. That will lead to dark blemishes. If the problem is very serious like intense acne, it's never a bad idea to consult a dermatologist.
