"Beanstalk intends on leveraging NeNe’s position in pop culture to offer consumers fashion-forward, affordable apparel and accessories, designed to empower women to walk into a room and 'own it' — like NeNe herself," says a rep from Beanstalk. The announcement was made during the Licensing Expo 2012 currently happening in Las Vegas. "While the fame of reality television characters is often short-lived and fleeting," said Michael Stone, Beanstalk’s president and CEO to The Hollywood Reporter, "NeNe Leakes has displayed versatility that has enabled her to transition from being a Real Housewives personality to a featured television star on Glee. NeNe's multifaceted personality and aspirational style will translate well into products that will emotionally connect with her fans."
Without question, NeNe (along with Bethanny Frankel), have become the most recognizable and sought-after stars from the reality series. And this licensing deal, plus the news that she will be paid $1 million per episode for the next season of Real Housewives of Atlanta, may put help put her in the Kardashian stratosphere, monetary-wise.
