Queen Latifah On More

Posted on May 2, 2012 By admin

Queen Latifah graces the cover of More magazine's December issue and shares new details about the next phase of her life.

About becoming a mom:

"I’m definitely going to adopt – or have – a child. I’ve wanted to adopt since I was 17 or 18-years-old."

On what the 20-year anniversary of the death of her brother, Lance Owens, taught her:

As my Aunt Elaine says, ‘You never get over it, but you get through it.’ I think the most important thing I’ve learned is to not stop living. I know for a fact that my brother would not want me to stay right there, stuck in that misery. If the person who you lost loved you like you loved them, there’s no way they would not want you to live your life to the maximum, to appreciate it, to go for your dreams, go for your goals.”

In 2007, Latifah spoke of adopting domestically:

"I want to adopt an American baby though, you know what I mean, no offense. Just because there are so many kids here that need our help. My sister is a social worker, and there are just so many kids that could use a good home."

Her next film, "Joyful Noise" with Dolly Parton and KeKe Palmer hits theaters everywhere on January 13, 2012.
