To her two million-plus fans she tweeted:
To be honest, we don't remember the song, but it seems the new rules have made it more difficult for songs to win. Only five can be nominated and for this year, only two made the cut. Which in the scheme of things is utterly ridiculous.
While many of Mary's Stans felt that there was some racism, we do have to remind everyone that race isn't a factor for this. Mary's song wasn't the only one snubbed. Madonna's "Masterpiece," which won a Golden Globe, was also ineligible to win an Oscar. And let's not forget that "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp," grabbed the top prize a couple of years back, much to the chagrin of many. Certainly many didn't think that song was Oscar-worthy. Many, however, believe Mary's was.
What are your thoughts? Do you remember songs played throughout the movie or at its end if it wasn't released as a single?
