Posted on May 2, 2012 By admin

The Tony Award-winner and R&B chanteuse will play the role Whitney Houston made famous in a new theatrical production.

According to Broadway.com, Heather Headley will return to the stage, singing some of Houston's songs in a theatrical adaptation of The Bodyguard, a 1992 romantic thriller starring Houston and Kevin Costner, which turned the remake of Dolly Parton's song “I Will Always Love You” into a bestselling single.

The play will make its debut in London, then move to the states. Headley's career blossomed when she played Aida and later on as the first actress to play Nala in The Lion's King.  As a singer, her single, "He Is," from her debut CD garnered  a Grammy nomination.

With her robust voice, and solid acting chops, we can't wait to see how she breathes new life into this role when it comes stateside.
