Why it's a must see: Crazy, Stupid, Love (Warner Bros.), which opens up today, tells the story of Cal Weaver (Steve Carell) who loses his first and only love, Emily (Julianne Moore), after having been married for more than 24 years. Why? Cal lost his sexy (in a nutshell) and Emily stepped outside of the marrage. In his quest to regain his "manhood" and in an attempt to move on, he lets Jacob (Ryan Gosling), a complete stranger make him over--taking him from daddy dud to 40-something stud.
Co-starring Emma Stone, who plays Hannah, the eventual love interest of Jacob, and Marisa Tomei (as Cal's first hook-up, post wife breakup) the movie takes us on a twisted tale of rebirths--young, old and unexpected--where paths cross in sometimes extremely unbelievable (Cal trusting a stranger to take him shopping), borderline creepy (involving a delusional underaged babysitter) and downright hilarious when all worlds come colliding together.
Written by Dan Fogelman and directed by Glen Ficarra and John Requa, Crazy, Stupid, Love captures the blunders of adults and children alike, showing that being in love never really changes no matter your age: sometimes it's crazy, sometimes a little bit stupid, but more than either, it's always worth your time.
