For Kerry's effortless makeup at the Black Ball, the annual fundraiser for Alicia Keys' Keep A Child Alive foundation, makeup artist Lucky Smyler wanted to create a look that was ethereal—a perfect complement to the fairytale-like dress Kerry wore that evening.
"Kerry's skin is naturally flawless, therefore my job was to enhance what was already there," shares Lucky, who also counts Viola Davis as a client. The first step was to hydrate Kerry's skin before applying foundation. He used Embryolisse Crème Rich Hydratante moisturizer ($31, available at Amazon.com), then softly pressed Dior SkinFlash Primer ($42, available at Sephora.com) on top of her face. Afterward, he applied Tom Ford Traceless Foundation SPF 15 in Caramel ($78, available at Neimanmarcus.com). Next, he added some highlights to her T-zone and jawline: First he used Smashbox Halo Highlighting Wand ($32, available at Sephora.com) on the forehead, nose and cheeks, then finished the glow with Dior Original Tan Bronzer ($46, available at Sephora.com), which he used to contour Kerry's jaw line and illuminate her temples.
